Konecranes today launched its new Konecranes E-ACE, the electric version of its trusted and reliable Konecranes Liftace range, marking a further step toward the total electrification of its product portfolio. The first Konecranes E-ACE lift trucks – empty container handlers for 9-10 ton loads – will start shipping in Asia today and roll out in other markets starting in 2025.
The Konecranes Liftace has been a mainstay at container terminals for many years, delivering high productivity and ease of use. The E-ACE brings the same features, lifting attachments and high-level performance, but now with zero tailpipe emissions to meet growing demand for electrified container operations.
“Today’s launch of the Konecranes E-ACE empty container handler comes at just the right time – and with the right technology – to meet the demands of Asian customers, offering a competitive electrified product combined with fast delivery times from our local manufacturing site in the region,” says Jeffrey Stokes, Director Product & Technology Management, Lift Trucks, Konecranes.
“The new E-ACE empty container handler joins our flagship E-VER electric forklifts as another world-class material handling innovation, bringing the same high quality and ease of use that our customers expect. As our industry demands more carbon-neutral solutions and our technology continues to evolve, this is yet another milestone in our commitment of offering customers a fully electric portfolio by 2026,” says Andreas Falk, Senior Vice President, Lift Trucks, Konecranes.
The Konecranes E-ACE empty container handler is powered by a lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery pack that fuels the truck’s electric motors for 6-12 hours with zero tailpipe emissions. Easily adaptable to the local power grid, it allows fast charging under an hour using a GB/T (Guojia Biaozhun / Tuijian) connector in Asia or a CCS (Combined Charging System) connector in other parts of the world. Regenerated braking can also top up the battery during busy work shifts. A combination of high voltage and modern technology reduces energy consumption and losses, and load sensing in the hydraulics adds further energy efficiency. The battery is protected by a water glycol solution to always keep it at the right temperature for smoother charge and discharge and safer operation. The OPTIMA cabin offers the driver an ergonomic console and a wide, unobstructed view of the work area for easy control of the vehicle. Electric power lowers noise and vibration by up to 50% for even more comfort and safety.
Like all of Konecranes’ Smart Connected Lift Trucks, the Konecranes E-ACE range uses TRUCONNECT® to collect real-time data including battery charge monitoring, energy consumption, the amount of energy recovered from braking, as well as alarms, alerts and other diagnostics. All this data transmits securely to the yourKONECRANES customer portal to monitor and control the truck’s operational efficiency, productivity, safety and environmental impact.
